In the wake of the recent devastating earthquake, GraceWorks Myanmar (GWM), in partnership with His Glory Ministries and local workers, has been working tirelessly to bring relief to the most impacted and overlooked communities. Thanks to your generous support, we’ve been able to deliver over 20 million kyats worth of food, water, and emergency supplies to families struggling to survive in the aftermath.
One of our earliest and most heartbreaking visits was to a group of nuns in the Sagaing Division, whose residences had been completely destroyed. No aid had reached them before we arrived, and it was a deeply humbling moment to be the first to offer them help, encouragement, and practical support.
In Mandalay, where over 80 homes were destroyed and more than 180 lives were lost, we found families taking shelter under makeshift tents on a local football field. These survivors are still in urgent need of clean water, food, and safe housing — and this is where your continued support is making a difference.
During a recent visit to another area in Mandalay, we were able to provide a small financial gift to 50 grieving families, each of whom had lost a loved one in the disaster. Listening to their stories, sharing tears, and offering support reminded us of the human cost behind the numbers — and the importance of simply showing up.
We also reached another devastated community where we distributed 100,000 kyats to 88 households, along with sleeping mats, mosquito nets, food, and essential medicines. For many of these families, sleeping outdoors is still the only option, as their homes are too damaged to safely return to. These simple items — mats and mosquito nets — offer children and their families much-needed protection from the cold, insects, and disease.
Our mission continued into the week with a visit to a village where power had been cut off since the earthquake. Thanks to your donations, we were able to provide a generator to restore electricity, bringing light and hope back to the village. We also distributed more mosquito nets, tarpaulins, and vital medical supplies to help families surviving in temporary shelters.
In moments like these, it becomes clear that even the simplest items can be life-saving. They bring dignity, comfort, and security to families facing incredible hardship.
We are deeply grateful for everyone who has partnered with us during this time. Your support is not only delivering resources — it’s delivering hope, compassion, and a sense of solidarity with those who have lost so much.
But the work is far from over. Many communities remain unreached, and the need continues to grow.
